Alerts Overview

What Are Alerts and What Types of Alerts May I Set?

Trellis Alerts function like Google Alerts.  Once you set an Alert, we’ll send you an email every morning with everything that triggered your Alert from the day before.

The Trellis database aggregates hundreds of millions of state court civil litigation Rulings and Dockets from all over the country and makes them searchable and accessible from a single interface.  If you want to (1) stay informed whenever a particular case Docket is updated; (2) track when new cases are filed involving a specific judge, opposing counsel, or party / corporation; or (3) track when courts issue new tentative Rulings involving legal issues that interest you, you don’t have to repeatedly run the same searches on Smart Search every week to stay up-to-date.

On Trellis, you can set Alerts for yourself and others to receive notifications when there are updates on these topics.  Trellis Alerts function like Google Alerts.  Once you set an Alert, we’ll send you an email every morning with everything that triggered your Alert from the day before.

Moreover, you may manage all of your Alerts (or set multiple Alerts simultaneously) by clicking your Profile Icon in the upper right corner of your Trellis page, then navigating to the “Alerts” section to tinker with your settings.

Many Trellis customers use Alerts to:

  1. Track Updates for Specific Case Dockets

You can set an Alert to track updates for a particular case Docket.  We’ll email you when there are any changes to that specific Docket, allowing you to track all open cases that you and your clients are involved in.
  2. Track When a New Case Involving a Specific Judge Is Filed

You can set an Alert to receive notifications whenever your judge appears in a newly filed case Docket, allowing you to gain insight into your judge’s case load.  From there, find new cases that involve legal issues similar to your own, and track how your judge is handling those cases.
  3. Track When a New Case Involving a Specific Law Firm, Attorney, or Opposing Counsel Is Filed

You can set an Alert to receive notifications whenever a specific attorney or law firm you’re interested in appears in a newly filed case Docket, allowing you to gain real time intel on your opposing counsel’s case load as well as track their strategies in those cases going forward.
  4. Track When a New Case Involving a Specific Party or Corporation Is Filed

You can set an Alert to receive notifications whenever a specific party or corporation you’re interested in appears in a newly filed case Docket.  We’ll email you when these new Dockets appear on Trellis, allowing you to track current and prospective clients for lead generation purposes.
