Motions & Issues Directory

Contents of a Motion or Legal Issues Treatise

  1. In the center of the page, you’ll find our written treatise.  Wherever you see highlights, we’ve done the work of emphasizing commonly cited authorities, threshold requirements, and legal exceptions that you shouldn’t miss.

  2. At the bottom of the treatise, you’ll see one of three green buttons:  “Show All Documents,” “Show All Rulings,” or “Show All Dockets.”

Clicking this button will run a search of your topic on Smart Search, where you may access relevant Rulings, Dockets, and Documents.

  3. Below the treatise, you’ll find a list of Rulings, Dockets, or Documents related to your topic.
This list is auto-populated from our document database, meaning the list is updated daily as our database is updated with civil court filings that reference your statute, code, rule or regulation.  Clicking on any of these links will lead you to the document, ruling or docket that analyzes your topic.                                                                                                                                        By default, this list is sorted by Most Relevant.  The list may also be sorted by Newest to Oldest.

  4. On the right side column, you may see a section titled “Useful Examples.”  Here, we’ve hand-selected motions, pleadings, or other real world filings that address the topic you’re researching.  Clicking on any of these links will lead you to the document.
